Meet Our Founder
From his time in the Marines to serving in a political office, Perry Mandera’s life experiences led him to a profound appreciation for logistics and its importance in keeping the world moving. In 1986, after spending 10 years in the industry, Perry Mandera founded The Custom Companies Inc. with plans of doing things a little differently.
Our History
1986
The Custom Companies, Inc. founded by Perry Mandera, began in a modest two door facility in Elk Grove Village, IL
1988
Custom moved to a 10 door, 48,000 square foot facility in Bensenville, IL
1990
Custom moved into a 20 door, 90,000 square foot facility also in Bensenville, IL
1993
The Custom Companies moved to Northlake, taking possession of a large service center formerly utilized by Montgomery Wards. This primary facility spanned an impressive 500,000 square feet.
2001
Custom acquired DSI, which established Custom Global Logistics (CGL) and expanded our operation to Los Angeles
2015
Custom moved from LA into Santa Fe Springs, CA
2019
Custom moved into our current building in the west suburbs of Chicago – 135 N. Railroad Ave in Northlake, IL
2023
